Alyssa Rae Thomas is a filmmaker, editor, and choreographer. Born and raised in metro-Detroit, she currently holds a double BA in Film, TV, & Media and Art History from the University of Michigan, where she was also the recipient of the 2022-23 John H. and Patricia W. Mitchell Scholarship. She has written and directed several short films as well as choreographed for both the screen and the stage. Her work often focuses around issues of body image, mental health, and gender nonconformity.

She currently serves on the programming board for the New Generation Filmmakers Forum based in Chicago, IL. She is also a co-producer of the short film When Life Gives You A Lawnmower, currently in its international festival run.
